History

The West Allis Speed Skating Club, founded on December 23, 1935, will be celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2015. Over the long history of the club, we have produced many skilled speed skaters and Olympic team members. The Club takes pride in being represented in the recent Sochi Winter Olympics by Alyson Dudek (Short Track).

WASSC Club Information

During the regular season the club practices twice a week, typically one long track and one short track practice.  there is an option to attend "off ice" dry land practice as well.  Costs for new skaters are around $1000 for the season, and go up slightly depending on age category. Fees include ice time, coaching fees, speed skate rental (if needed).  Helmets are required.  Racing "skins" are not required for new skaters.  We generally have two coaches on the ice at all time. Our current coaches include Al Johnson, himself an Olympic caliber short track skater and Nathan Miller, an aspiring Olympian and currently nationally ranked in the Junior Level Long Track program.
